Our Musical Director, Leo LariveeLeo Larivee has been directing Barbershop choruses for almost 45 years. He joined the Framingham, MA Chapter SPEBSQSA shortly after graduating from Framingham North High School in 1966. Leo studied music at the Boston Conservatory of Music (Music Education with a major in tuba). After teaching for a while, Leo realized that he was better suited for sales. Today, Leo is the President of The Larivee Company Tours, Inc. (TLC Tours) and Proprietor of The Larivee Company providing local advertising media and customized Newsletters.
Many current members of Main Street USA have worked with Leo before, most notably, as singers in the former Sound Assembly Chorus (Wellesley, MA Chapter of SPEBSQSA) who performed over 500 times (in a 12-year span) singing in six different countries. The chorus sang the "Star Spangled Banner" multiple times for both the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Sound Assembly Chorus performed at every Patriots home game for a three-year period. The chorus appeared twice at Walt Disney World (in the Rotunda at the America Pavilion at Epcot Center). In 1989, Sound Assembly Chorus accepted an invitation from the Irish Association of Barbershop Singers (IABS) and Shannon Development Corp. to be featured performers at the first IABS Convention held in Birr, County Offaly, Ireland. They returned again for the 3rd IABS Convention in 1991 where they sang for the Prime Minister of Ireland as well as participating in the "Treaty 300" festivities in Limerick, Ireland. To this day, Leo returns to Ireland on a regular basis in support of the Irish Association of Barbershop Singers in their quest to grow and prosper. Leo is the first "Honorary Life Member" of the Irish Association of Barbershop Singers. The Sound Assembly Chorus singing at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland in August, 1989. |
